:::

In response to World Day for Safety and Health at Work on April 28 and the National Port Occupational Safety and Health Week, TIPC, together with TIPC Marine Corporation, Ltd. (TIPM) and Kaohsiung Port, officially established ‘Taiwan Port Group – Kaohsiung Safety & Health Family’, aiming to jointly safeguard operational safety in Kaohsiung Port and provide a safer working environment.

TIPC stated that the establishment of the ‘Taiwan Port Group – Kaohsiung Safety & Health Family’ is not merely symbolic, but marks the beginning of concrete actions. The initiative will lead its member organizations in actively participating in safety and health activities and training programs, aiming to enhance workers’ safety awareness and response capabilities. The company is committed to building a comprehensive safety management system, encompassing safe design, engineering controls, administrative management, and extensive safety education and promotion.

Kaohsiung City Government has expressed strong support for the ‘Taiwan Port Group – Kaohsiung Safety & Health Family’, commending its commitment to autonomous safety management and the protection of workers' safety and well-being. Moving forward, this model will be extended to other port areas, promoting the principles of ESG-friendly workplaces. Through collaboration with port stakeholders, the initiative aims to fulfill corporate social responsibility (CSR) and contribute to the realization of sustainable development goals (SDGs).

TIPC has been recognized as an ‘2024 Occupational Safety and Health Excellent Unit’. The company’s performance and capabilities in occupational safety and health management have received widespread recognition. Executive Vice President Lu Chan-Yu stated that in the post-pandemic era, with the economic recovery driving increased activity in commercial ports, TIPC has actively implemented the ISO/CNS 45001 Occupational Safety and Health Management System, trained OSH professionals and collaborated with training institutions to introduce virtual reality (VR) training. In addition, TIPC has worked to systematize port operations and engineering management, and established a comprehensive employee health management system. The company also continues to promote wellness programs such as the Yushan Project, exercise subsidies, and stress-relief courses, all of which have delivered outstanding results.

This year, the Ministry of Labor has included key areas such as working conditions, physical and mental health care, protection for middle-aged, older, and female workers, and the sustainable development of workplace safety in its evaluation criteria. In response, TIPC upholds its core commitment to creating a ‘safer, healthier, and more inclusive’ work environment, striving towards its zero occupational accident vision across all ports.
