Ports are hubs of trade and starting points connecting the world. Amid the global wave of AI technology, programming has become a critical capability; yet in many parts of Africa, insufficient hardware infrastructure makes it difficult for schoolchildren to access digital information.

Taiwan International Ports Corporation (TIPC) has long been dedicated to social welfare. In support of Coding Nations, which, while promoting education in internationally underserved regions, found that inadequate infrastructure in Africa prevents many schoolchildren from receiving a complete digital education, we hope to collect still-functional computers retired by Taiwan's public and private sectors and send them to Africa to establish computer classrooms and information centers, helping local rural schoolchildren both locally and overseas gain access to complete learning resources.

We believe refurbished computers are the key for African schoolchildren to explore the world. After identifying 43 sets of computers available for donation, we called on colleagues to serve as volunteers to check the integrity of monitors, desktop units, and other equipment, clean and pack them, and then donate them to Coding Nations. The Association currently has partner units in countries such as Ghana, Eswatini, and Tanzania that can receive and install the computers, with local teaching volunteers dedicated to training teachers in how to teach programming languages, ensuring that every computer sent can be put to good use.

Through donating refurbished computers, we hope to provide learning opportunities for schoolchildren in rural or resource-scarce areas, and by this example to convey the idea that education should not be limited by boundaries, so that digital equity is no longer constrained by geography—putting into practice United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 1, "End poverty in all its forms everywhere."
