Wharf No. 70 at Container Terminal No. 3 is about 320 meters in length with a working depth of −13.5 meters, capable of berthing 8,000 TEU container vessels. It has been leased by Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation since 1981, and since 2014 has been successively leased and operated by Hong Ming Terminal & Stevedoring Corp., a subsidiary of Yang Ming. Using Wharf No. 70 at the Port of Kaohsiung as its near-sea route transshipment base, Hong Ming leverages the wharf's geographic advantage of proximity to the urban area and its connection via the urban Xinsheng Elevated Road to National Freeway No. 1 to improve external transport convenience, complemented by comprehensive rear-line logistics and warehousing facilities that effectively integrate end-to-end supply-chain services. Over the past decade it has achieved an average annual handling volume of about 550,000 TEU, making a meaningful contribution to the Port of Kaohsiung's overall container volume.

In response to demand arising from larger container vessels, TIPC is undertaking renovation works at Container Terminal No. 3. The working depth at Wharf No. 70 is being deepened from the current −13.5 meters to −15.2 meters, while a new 100-foot container crane rail is being constructed and vessel mooring facilities are being renewed. Upon completion, Container Terminal No. 3 will be able to berth 18,000 TEU container vessels. Concurrently, as the lease term expired and a new lease was due, Hong Ming Terminal & Stevedoring Corp. invested in the Port of Kaohsiung through a long-term contract, renewing and replacing operating equipment to comprehensively enhance operating performance and transport capacity, strengthen terminal handling efficiency, and lay a solid foundation for future business development.

The signing of this 20-year long-term lease demonstrates Hong Ming Terminal & Stevedoring Corp.'s determination and commitment to sustainable operations and to deepening container business at the Port of Kaohsiung. TIPC looks forward, through this signing of the lease for Wharf No. 70 and ancillary facilities at Container Terminal No. 3, to working with Hong Ming to create a higher-quality cargo-handling environment and operating niche, enhance port operating performance, help Hong Ming firmly root its operations at Wharf No. 70 of the Port of Kaohsiung, actively expand near-sea routes and transshipment cargo sources, and jointly advance toward a new peak in the Port of Kaohsiung's container volume growth.
