Opening of the Walsin Energy Cable System Kaohsiung Submarine Cable Factory and Kaohsiung Port Pier A6-A Inauguration Ceremony

:::

On December 6, 2025, TIPC and Walsin Lihwa Corporation jointly held the "Opening of the Walsin Energy Cable System Kaohsiung Submarine Cable Factory and Kaohsiung Port Pier A6-A Inauguration Ceremony." In support of the government's energy transition policy, TIPC has actively advanced the layout of the offshore wind industry chain. By integrating more than 30 hectares of land in Area A6 of the Kaohsiung Intercontinental Container Terminal (KICT) Phase I container center and undertaking, in line with industry needs, the KICT Phase I Wharf A6 revetment and reclaimed-land filling project at the Port of Kaohsiung, TIPC invested NT$3 billion to construct two 30-metric-ton heavy-lift wharves, laying the foundation for the Port of Kaohsiung to become a core base for the domestically produced offshore wind supply chain.

Walsin Lihwa entered the KICT Phase I Wharf A6-A site in 2022 and, in partnership with Denmark's NKT HV Cables AB—one of the world's top three players—jointly established Walsin Energy Cable System Co., Ltd. at the Port of Kaohsiung to build Taiwan's first submarine cable production plant. With a total development area of about 20 hectares and investment exceeding NT$13 billion, the project will create more than 400 jobs and bring significant benefits to production technology upgrading, industrial clustering, and the regional economy of southern Taiwan.

As the offshore wind industry flourishes, Area A6 of KICT Phase I at the Port of Kaohsiung is an important base supporting wind farms in Taiwan and the Asia–Pacific region. TIPC also looks forward to building on the successful public–private cooperation case at KICT Phase I Wharf A6-A, working with Walsin Lihwa to contribute to Taiwan's energy transition and jointly set a milestone for green-energy sustainable development.
