To put ESG corporate social responsibility and environmental sustainability goals into practice, TIPC's Taichung Branch has vigorously promoted environmental education. On June 21, 2022, it obtained environmental education facility site certification and established the "Taichung Port Environmental Education Center," becoming the first international commercial port in Taiwan to apply for and receive environmental education facility site certification.
Themed courses developed by the "Taichung Port Environmental Education Center" integrate distinctive features of the port area's environment, culture, development, and greening. Four course sets are currently available: "The Story of the Port of Taichung," "The Wonders of a Green Port," "Unlocking Offshore Wind Power," and "Sustainable Green Port SDGs in Progress." Through course development and promotion, environmental education at the Port of Taichung demonstrates both depth and warmth.
For more than three years, guided by the core philosophy of "green port sustainability, education in action," the Center has not only led participants from the port area itself to experience the practical force and sustainable spirit of a green harbor, but has also worked hand in hand with surrounding enterprises, schools, communities, and other partners to build a learning platform that combines local character with an international outlook, allowing the seeds of environmental education to take root in every corner and gradually chart a new educational chapter for the "green port."
In addition, the "Taichung Port Environmental Education Center" participated for the first time in 2025 in the evaluation of environmental education institutions and facility sites organized by the National Environmental Research Academy under the Ministry of Environment, and won an "Outstanding" award. On the afternoon of the awards ceremony, representatives were received by the Vice President at the Presidential Office for commendation. This award is a major affirmation of the Taichung Port Environmental Education Center.
Going forward, TIPC will continue to treat the port as a classroom, deepen the Port of Taichung's sustainable learning journey, advance steadily with refinement and innovation, and inspire more people to turn net-zero sustainability into concrete action in daily life.
