Eco Port

The Ecoports Tools and certification scheme has been developed in Europe from 1993 and introduced from 1996 by a group of ESPO member ports to assist ports in the implementation of environmental legislation in a cost effective way, based on practical solutions. All ports faced the same environmental problems and the same daily task to find cost effective solutions. Ecoports delivered from its start basic standards and certification to assist in this task and also to make the implementation of environmental legislation in seaports competition neutral. The standards are compatible with the ISO 14001 environmental quality management system but dedicated to the specific roles and responsibilities of ports and port authorities.  (Reference: //www.ecoslc.eu/about)
