Taiwan has set up its goal of awarding 5.5GW of offshore wind capacity to be developed by 2025. In the near future, there will be a fast-growing need for vessels and workforce during construction and operation & maintenance phase in the wind farm.

As a leading tugboat operator in Taiwan, TIPC Marine Corp., Ltd. (TIPM) has moved forward to engage CTVs operation and maritime engineering services of offshore wind business. TIPM had collaborated with Northern Offshore Services AB (NOS) to provide the training to its CTV crew as the first step of its mutual cooperation plan.

This training was held from Mar. 12th to Mar. 22nd in Taichung Port.  The 10-days program aims to introduce the SOP of offshore wind farm crew transfer operation from Europe to Taiwan for the first time. The senior captain from NOS provided TIPM’s crew with his expertise and carry out the ship-maneuvering task in in Changhua and Miaoli offshore. By conducting the practical program, TIPM establishes its crew training system and enhances its capacity of implementation.

TIPM provides CTV, guard vessel, barge and other maritime services for developers, EPCI, suppliers of wind turbines as well as all contractors in windfarm starting from this year. Currently the two newly and locally built SWATH-type CTVs have passed codes of ISM and IMCA. It’s expected to have two more CTV delivered in 2020. To meet the requirement of service quality and QHSE of OWF industry, TIPM has acquired ISO9001, TOSHMS and ISO14001 certification in 2018.
