Taiwan International Ports Corporation Ltd. (TIPC) celebrated its 7th anniversary on March 4th, 2019 with guests of the maritime, academic and official sectors at the “Small Theater” of Kaohsiung Main Public Library. The Golden Vessel Awards were granted to outstandingly performed customers for expressing TIPC’s gratitude during the ceremony, and the chairperson of TIPC honored the model employees of TIPC in public. The whole ceremony was conducted with great pomp and rejoicings.

Mr. Huang, Yu-Lin, the Political Deputy Minister of Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC), came to express his congratulations on TIPC’s 7th anniversary and deliver a speech. He first recognized TIPC spared no effort to deliver strong, year-on-year performance on its core business in the past year. Further, he mentioned TIPC is aggressively diversifying its business area with flexibility and innovative thinking, including passenger traffic, waterfront development, overseas investments, and offshore wind power industry fields. All new businesses have achieved significant results, such as the Kaohsiung Port Warehouse No. 2 and the Mitsui Outlet Park at the Port of Taichung, both stepping into operation in 2018, and TIPC also established PT Formosa Sejati Logistics in Surabaya, Indonesia, and founded Taiwan Foundation International Pte., Ltd. with domestic maritime and logistics services providers. He also encouraged TIPC to work together with domestic maritime industry consistently to bring Taiwan to the world.

Mr. Wu, Chung-Rung, the chairperson of TIPC, especially thanked the MOTC and maritime industry for their support and encouragement, which enabled TIPC to have strong performances in both core business and emerging projects in past year. He proclaimed that TIPC team will keep pursuing “Innovation”, “Cooperation”, and “Efficiency” in the future. Under the three axioms, TIPC will further integrate innovative retailing into its corporate management and continue transforming its port subsidiaries into state-of-the-art “smart” ports to create synergies and a good business environment. TIPC will also strengthen partnerships with related businesses, private-sector partners, and local governments where the port is located to create win-win scenarios for all stakeholders together. Finally, TIPC will continue enhancing its core competitive strengths and business performance to secure its position as one of the world's best-run and best-performing port management organizations.

In the face of the turbulent global political and economic situation and the sluggish shipping situation, TIPC is still holding its competitiveness. The total container handling volume grows as 15.32 million TEUs last year, and Port of Kaohsiung reaches the volume of 10 million TEUs five years in a row. The number of passengers is over 1.42 million, in which the Port of Keelung exceeds 1 million. To express TIPC’s gratitude, the Golden Vessel Awards were granted to 34 outstandingly performed customers in the past year, including terminal operators, bulk cargo terminal operators, stevedores (container & bulk cargo), shipping agencies and special contribution.

As part of ongoing efforts to support government green energy policy, TIPC held the investment contract signing with Tai-Shing Century Wind Power Co., Ltd. for developing offshore wind industry district in Taichung Port to attain the goal of localizing the production of key components and parts in Taiwan. Furthermore, TIPC signed another contract with Jan Yi Development Co., Ltd. for operating the buildings and infrastructures at Academy of Maritime Development (TIPA). The whole training park will not only be the base for offshore-wind staff training but also open to the public for general training and accommodation in the future.

Looking ahead into 2019, TIPC will keep promoting port programs and creating better industrial environment by mutual relationship with port sectors.
